RADU

Radu, who is affectionately known as Rad is a Hybrid, a cross between a Greenwinged Macaw and a Blue & Gold Macaw. These Hybrids are known as a Harlequin Macaw. Hybrids do not occur in the wild, only in captivity. In a lot of cases two different species will pair up and become inseperable.

Rad is a beautiful bird with magnificent colouring. As a baby he was owned by an Asian family and can still sing and talk in Asian.

His last owner, Julie, bought him from the Asian family at the age of 2 years old, she dearly loved Rad, but sadly he is going through the inevitable hormonal period and becomes quite vicious when he gets excited. Julie felt he would be happier in the company of other Macaws which has certainly proven to be the case.
